Persona

As an artist, my focus is on the human body, its place in the universe and its behavior in the social and spiritual context. The bodily experience and its physical expression fascinate me, and is an inexhaustible source of inspiration. I tend to end up in an issue of gender, on the female body’s location and expression in a patriarchal world. Sometimes the bridge between thought and work is hard to detect, my expressions varies from exaggerated normative feminine to rough, “unclean” and messy. Persona is a series of jewelry sprung out of pictures I’ve taken of myself during the years, where a tried facial expressions that correspond with the layers of my personality, pictures that tells more about me as a person than a retouched sweet smiling face. My tryouts doesn’t always become what I intended, but I can recognize the part of my persona in all of them. Why sculls? There is extremely annoying to not be able to see the inside of one’s body, to be able to examine it, tough I’ve tried once doing a gastroscopy. I’ll have to imagine my physical inner me. And as always, death is around.
